Landmark Foodservice Group

Landmark changed its name to Landmark Wholesale in October 2005.

This reflects the changing Member base and the significant growth in Foodservice as a part of the Group's turnover and customer base.

Landmark Foodservice was formed in 2005 and has grown to 14 Members, with the addition of BA Cash & Carry, Bellevue and JW Gray, so that all sectors within the Foodservice marketplace are fully covered, including schools, nursing homes, pubs and prisons.

Landmark Foodservice is a serious player in the Industry and is the third largest in the Foodservice sector.

45% of Landmark Wholesale Customers are involved in Catering and Foodservice, that's 40,000 Catering Customers and 16,000 Foodservice Customers.

30% of Landmark Wholesale business is in Catering and Foodservice.

The operational mix of Landmark Wholesale is 60% Cash & Carry and 40% delivered, the latter covering the majority of Catering and Foodservice Customers. Landmark Wholesale operates out of 3.75 million square feet.

The strategy, agreed at the quarterly meetings, is for all 14 members to work as one Group rather than individuals, and subsequently this challenge was taken to seven major Suppliers within the Foodservice Sector. The Suppliers presented the Group with an outline of their commitment, which was very positive and constructive as they are all at different stages of recognising Landmark Foodservice. Once conclusions have been drawn from this initial set of presentations, the Group will identify the next set of Suppliers to work with.

CK Foodservice

As the development in Foodservice has progressed, Landmark has developed a value-for-money, no frills range under the CK Foodservice label. This has been developed with the help and advice of the Foodservice Members.

The range has been developed to compliment the existing Caterers Kitchen Cash and Carry range, but is packaged differently and has a different specification. By still carrying the CK badge, it focuses on the Consumer needs by generating loyalty to the Brand.

The range is being launched under a three-phase plan. Phase one of the development has been completed and includes lines such as standard and lite mayonnaise, bulk sauces, salad cream and 20 litre cooking oil. Work on phase two is now well underway, with foils, films and tea being introduced shortly, whilst phase three will widen the CK Foodservice range even further.

Communication

The Landmark Foodservice Bulletin has been introduced which forms part of the regular contact from the Group to its key customers which is bespoke to Foodservice.

The Bulletin carries market information and buying opportunities and also gives regular updates on CK Foodservice Own Brand development.

Top Table, the promotional brochure, is still key to Foodservice. It gives Suppliers the opportunity to launch new products and show features and benefits through editorial pieces rather than always majoring on offers. This helps to create Customer-led listings for the Foodservice Members.
