Landmark Awards
Landmark achievement for BA Cash & Carry at Group awards
Landmark Wholesale has honoured its members at its annual Wholesaler of the Year awards 2006-2007, with South Wales-based member BA Cash & Carry picking up the top accolade of Member of the Year for a fourth consecutive year.
The gala event, held last week at the Palm House, Liverpool, recognised and rewarded the high standards achieved across the group over the past 12 months.
On top of its Member of the Year award, BA Cash & Carry was also recognised as Own Brand Depot of the Year award and Large Cash and Carry Depot of the Year for its Cardiff operation.
Other winners on the night included Parfetts Cash & Carry, with its Aintree depot recognised as Suppliers' Cash & Carry Depot of the Year, and its Halifax branch as Small Cash & Carry of the Year.
For the first time, Landmark Wholesale also introduced a foodservice category to recognise and reward this growing and significant area of the group. Scottish wholesalers' William Yule received the overall title of Foodservice Member of the Year, with Bellevue awarded Foodservice Depot of the Year and Foodservice Own Brand Depot of the Year.
The importance of good supplier relations was also rewarded on the evening, with Gallagher receiving the coveted Supplier of the Year title, with Scottish & Newcastle as runner-up.
Managing Director of Landmark Wholesale, Martin Williams said: "This event has grown in significance and stature over the years, and is a competitively fought contest between our members and our suppliers.
"Whilst there can only be one winner, it is a credit to each member and supplier that again the competition has been as close as ever with the standards being raised year on year.
"The introduction of a foodservice category is of particular importance as it demonstrates our focus on this sector of the industry and also recognises the high standards of service that our foodservice members are already delivering."
Peter Saunders, Foodservice Controller was awarded the Landmark Wholesale Central Office Employee of the Year award in recognition of the significant progress made in developing the foodservice category within the group.
The Special Achievement award went to Ivor Pheasant from Coors, who retires later this year, and has shown tireless commitment to both Landmark Wholesale and the industry throughout his career.
