Landmark launch Lifestyle Direct at Conference

Wholesale has unveiled its latest offering to independent retailers
with its ‘Lifestyle Direct’ drop shipment service. The
announcement was made to the 200 delegates of suppliers and members
attending its annual conference in Dubai.
‘Lifestyle Direct’ is a new concept for Landmark to
add to its current Hot House retail development package. It encompasses
over 10 suppliers, offering drop shipments direct to the retailer
of several services. This includes chilled and frozen foods, bread,
milk, bake off, hosiery, greetings cards, DVDs and videos, sandwiches
and fruit and vegetables.
The idea is to introduce independent retailers to certain lines
that may not be available at their local wholesaler and to encourage
them to stock ranges that they had not previously considered in
new growth areas. For example, due to the short shelf life many
retailers are reluctant to stock fresh fruit, vegetables or chilled
items, however, through ‘Lifestyle Direct’ retailers
can get fresh deliveries straight to their door at a frequency that
suits their own and their customers’ needs.
Martin Williams, Managing Director of Landmark Wholesale, explained
the concept to the delegate audience in Dubai. He said: “We
are very excited about ‘Lifestyle Direct’ and believe
that this service will give our independent retail customers that
crucial point of difference as well as being able to tap into new
growth areas and profitable areas of the convenience market.
“Our retailers are having to compete on a daily basis with
the big multiples, and the idea behind ‘Lifestyle Direct’
is that they too can become a one-stop shop for all their customers’
needs. The added bonus is that the retailer can receive these ranges
direct to their door, so they don’t have to spend precious
time away from the shop and serving their community. By introducing
these new and popular ranges, retailers can build the profile of
their store as being able to cater for everyone.”
The suppliers currently involved are Kerry Foods, Roberts Bakery,
Iazeron, IDC, Cuisine de France, Cakes for the Connoisseur, Eden
Farm, Warburtons, Card Connection and Movies 2 Go. Retailers can
access ‘Lifestyle Direct’ through their member wholesaler.
