Increasing Buying Power
The Landmark Group was formed in 1972 to provide a centralised trading
and marketing operation on behalf of Independent Wholesalers. Over
the years, the Group has grown steadily and, today, has a turnover
of over £1.8 billion with Members throughout the UK. Landmark's
Central Office is in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Professionalism & Integrity
The Landmark Group was founded on integrity and trust and continues
to run on these principles. All transactions are recorded in open
book accounts with no Member receiving preferential terms. New Members
are only accepted into the Group when they have proved that they
run a successful, robust operation that has a healthy, assured future.
In addition, they must also demonstrate entrepreneurial flair and
a progressive business attitude. Both the clarity of accounting
within the Group and the like-minded attitude of its Members have
created an extraordinarily close-knit, vibrant and unique wholesale
operation that has an assured future.
The Independent Wholesaler for the Independent Business
Many of the larger Wholesale operators now have interests in the
Retail Sector (through links with multiples, symbol groups or convenience
stores). Landmark focuses only on the Wholesaler's agenda and the
future of this essential sector. Unlike its competitors, strategies
are never diluted by retail agendas and Landmark never competes
with its customers.
Each Landmark Member continues to operate an Independent Wholesale
business, locally. Any Landmark Customer can, therefore, be assured
that their local depot has an understanding of both business needs
and challenges; and has a current working knowledge of the local
business community. Everyone at Landmark is committed to the onward
development of the Independent Sector, and is always happy to help
Customers develop their business to achieve this.
Member Board Representatives:
Following the AGM on the 23rd October 2008, the Landmark Wholesale Board Members are as follows: Steve Parfett Chairman, Brian Metcalfe DBC, Sam Wilcox, Mans Suterwalla, George Benson, George Hepburn, Martin Jones, Don Wouhra and Zahier Ahmed.
Central Office Board Representatives:
Martin Williams Managing Director, Andrew Thewlis Finance Director,
Ian Davidson Marketing Director and John Searle Trading Director.
As well as the Board, the Group also agrees trading policies through
Member-run Trading Committees that meet every 6 weeks. All strategic
trading issues and pricing policies are agreed with the Trading
Committees, ensuring full Member consensus is achieved at all
times.
